12/2/2008: Otis Eastern Conquers Challenging Terrain with Tuff-N-Nuff on Empire Connector Pipeline

In 2007 and 2008, crews from Otis Eastern Service Inc. of Wellsville, NY, installed mile after mile of Tuff-N-Nuff Rockshield pads on the 24” Empire Connector pipeline. This project was especially challenging because of the extremely rocky terrain encountered in the “Finger lakes” region of New York State. UPSCO Inc. provided product and support for Otis Eastern through their Moravia, NY office (315-497-1070). UPSCO coordinated “just in time” delivery of the 80” x 72” custom cut pads to the staging yards along the ROW. Using pre-cut pads reduces a significant amount of labor costs and virtually eliminates wasted material. We are very pleased with the level of customer satisfaction achieved on this project and we thank Otis Eastern Service for the remarks in the attached document.
