12/20/2005: A Unique Application for Tuff-N-Nuff in Kazakhstan

A joint venture between Parsons and Flour (PFD) were contracted to perform engineering work for pipeline projects in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since this pipeline is to be laid across some lowland areas, anti-buoyancy was a concern and the design included set-on weights. Since traditional concrete set-on weights have a history of damaging pipeline coatings, PFD wanted to ensure the coating integrity by installing Tuff-N-Nuff Rockshield as a barrier directly between the pipe coating and the concrete weight.

At PFD’s request, Tuff-N-Nuff provided custom sized pads that fit exactly into the radius of the pipeweight for 24” and 40” pipelines. TNN also supplied the adhesive along with drawings and an installation procedure.
